In a significant announcement, Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar, representing
Balochistan in the Senate, has been chosen as the interim Prime Minister, as
revealed by an official statement from the Prime Minister's Office on a recent

This
decision emerges following a series of discussions held between Prime Minister
Shehbaz Sharif and Raja Riaz, the Leader of the Opposition in the National
Assembly. The outcome of these deliberations has been submitted in a summary to
President Arif Alvi, awaiting his formal approval.
He
elaborated, "I proposed the name of Anwaarul Haq Kakar, and it has
received endorsement from the Prime Minister. We have jointly endorsed the
summary." Raja Riaz also noted that Anwaarul Haq Kakar will be officially

This
development came about following a formal communication from President Dr. Arif
Alvi to PM Shehbaz. The communication underscored the importance of proposing a
suitable candidate for the role of interim prime minister by the designated
date of August 12 (Saturday).
President
Alvi's letter emphasized that, as per Article 224A of the Constitution of
Pakistan, it falls upon the Prime Minister and the leader of the Opposition in
the outgoing National Assembly to nominate an appropriate individual for the
position of caretaker Prime Minister within three days of the dissolution of
the National Assembly.
"In
case an agreement cannot be reached on a nominee within the stipulated three
days, the matter will be referred to the parliamentary committee responsible
for selecting an interim Prime Minister," President Alvi's letter
highlighted.
As per the
established protocol, both the Prime Minister and the opposition leader will
present their respective preferences to the parliamentary committee.
The
committee will then have a three-day window to finalize the selection of the
interim prime minister. However, if a consensus cannot be achieved within the
committee, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will make the final
decision within two days, considering the choices presented by both the
opposition and the government.
Prime
Minister Shehbaz also stressed the importance of consulting with coalition
partners before arriving at a final decision.
In
conclusion, the appointment of Senator Anwaarul Haq Kakar as the interim Prime
Minister holds significant implications for Pakistan's political dynamics. With
